Irrawaddy

The Irrawaddy (or Ayeyarwady) is the largest river in Myanmar (Burma), and flows from North to South. It is a major commercial lifeline for the country, with ferries, rafts and fishing boats, as well as river cruise ships, using it daily.

A cruise along this river is like stepping back in time, in this country with such a long and colourful history. You will call at such places as Bagan, Yandabo, Ava, Mingun and Mandalay.

You can cruise the Irrawaddy with a number of companies, including AmaWaterways, Avalon Waterways, Belmond, Insider Journeys, Noble Caledonia, Pandaw, Tauck, Titan TravelViking River Cruises and Wendy Wu Tours
